Non Prescription Colored Contacts, Non prescription Colored Contact lenses

Non Prescription Colored Contacts-For several decades, technology in contact lenses has allowed people who need vision correction to see clearly without wearing eyeglasses. Research has uncovered materials that now allow millions to cast aside their glasses as they opt for prescription contacts, non-prescription colored contacts and several styles in between.

Lenses have progressed from the original glass and hard-plastic types that a relative few used, with numbers sometimes limited because of the stiffness of material. As flexible and moist contact lens types were introduced, more people were able to see clearly in comfort. Some people are not able to use soft contacts because of particular eye shape or other factors and either returned to the harder type or gave up wearing contacts altogether.

But for those who have no problems wearing the new lenses, there are several options. Of course those who need to correct their vision may choose the more standard, clear lenses. In addition, suppliers offer colored, prescription lenses so that some individuals benefit from vision correction and from changing the color of their eyes. Those who need corrective lenses must have a prescription from a certified eye-care professional.

But there is another choice in the world of the contact lens - non-prescription colored contact lenses. Some people seek to enhance the natural color of their eyes or change the color entirely with a pair of comparatively new contacts that come in a wide variety of hues and shades of green, blue, gray and violet.

Before you rush out to purchase a set of soft, deep-blue or emerald-green lenses, consider this: In the United States and many other countries you will still need a prescription to buy the lenses, in most cases. For example, in the United States a supplier that sells non-prescription colored lenses without confirming your prescription will be violating federal law. Technically it is not illegal to buy such lenses, so the individual would not be at fault. But the seller is supposed to confirm the prescription you provide by calling or writing to the eye-care professional.

There is another key element to successful use of non-prescription colored contacts. Wearing contact lenses is nothing like picking up your regular pair of glasses and slipping them on. It's common knowledge that putting things in your eyes is not to be done lightly. While modern contact lenses are generally safe and worry-free, there is always the possibility of serious damage to the eye and impairment of vision if the procedures are not followed correctly.

Even those who are willing to spend $200, $300, $400 or more to change or highlight their eye color should consult with an eye doctor to make sure the lenses they buy fit properly. *Some solutions used to store, preserve and clean contact lenses are not safe for certain individuals.

With all of this in mind, consider the various types of non-prescription colored contacts. Some have a lighter color that matches your natural blue, green, violet, gray and so on. These are meant to enhance the color, making them seem brighter or "richer." Another type of colored lens can actually change your eye color. For example, someone who has blue-gray eyes of a light hue might choose a deep blue for an attractive effect. There are a few suppliers of special-effect contact lenses. One type provides color highlights around the edge of the iris. Another even gives the eye a "starburst" appearance.

With any type of lens, prescription or non-prescription colored contacts, make sure you learn as much as you can about price, cleaning and storage before you commit.
